How to move your App Wallet assets safely (update → new wallet → move everything)
A summary of the official asset-move guide. (Last updated 2026-10-07)
- Update the app to the latest version. Update only through the official app stores.
- Create a wallet with a new recovery phrase. Do not restore using your existing recovery phrase.
- Move your assets to an address in the wallet you just created.
- Do not reuse your previous address.
1. Prepare
- Check your recovery-phrase backup first. Confirm all 24 words are present and legible. Do not delete the App Wallet or uninstall the app before you have verified the backup. DCENT does not store recovery phrases and cannot recover them for you.
- Update the DCENT app to v10.0.0 or later. To check the version: Home → Settings → About → Check for Updates. Do not send, swap, or sign with the App Wallet before updating.
- Make sure you have fee coins. ERC-20 tokens need ETH, TRC-20 (USDT, etc.) need TRX, and Solana tokens need SOL.
2. Create the destination
| Destination | What to do | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware wallet (Biometric, DCENT X, DCENT S card) | In the initial setup choose "Create Wallet" to generate a completely new recovery phrase, write it on the recovery card, confirm the words on the device, then connect it to the app and update the firmware | Do not enter your current App Wallet's 24 words into the "Recover Wallet" menu. That recreates the same key and moving would be pointless |
| Exchange | Copy the deposit address for each asset from your own account's deposit menu | For XRP, etc., always include the destination tag. Check the minimum deposit amount |
| Other trusted wallet | A wallet whose security model and recovery method you have verified yourself | Never use an address received by DM, comment, or email |
3. Order of sending
- Tokens first, native coins last. If you send all the coins first, you'll have no fee left and the tokens get stuck.
- Send a small test amount (1–5% of the balance), confirm it arrived on the receiving side, then send the rest.
- Everything, without exception. Include every network, every coin and token, NFTs, and staked assets. Do not move only part.
4. Notes by asset
- Coins that require a reserve, such as XRP and XLM: Because of the minimum reserve needed to keep the account active, you cannot send the full balance, and an amount equal to the reserve remains. (XRP needs at least 1 XRP to activate a new address.) When sending to an exchange, missing the destination tag/memo can cause loss of assets.
- EVM chains (ETH, BSC, Polygon, etc.): The same address is used across multiple chains, so check every chain, and after moving, revoke existing contract approvals in the Approval tab.
- Staking / DeFi: Unstake directly on the original platform, return the assets to the App Wallet, then move them. For assets deposited with a yield service (Doppler, SOIL, etc.), see the separate article.
- Solana: Sending a token to a new address for the first time incurs an extra account-creation fee. Kaia: Check whether the asset is on the main account or a Legacy account.
- TRON: Sending TRC-20 (USDT, etc.) requires TRX (energy/bandwidth). We recommend sending a small amount of TRX to the new address first, then sending the USDT.
- VeChain (VET): The transfer fee is charged in VTHO, not VET. Check your VTHO balance.
- Bitcoin, Litecoin and other UTXO chains: Set the fee level to "normal" or higher (a low fee may be delayed). If you have multiple account types (Legacy/SegWit/Taproot), move each one. A large number of UTXOs raises the fee and can delay the transfer, so check your UTXOs before moving.
- Songbird / Flare: If you have assets delegated or wrapped in the FTSO Portal, you must first undelegate and unwrap before moving your assets. Undelegating and unwrapping also require a fee coin (SGB/FLR), so leave a small amount.
- Dust (tiny leftover balance): Some coins send with the network fee deducted, so even after moving everything, a tiny leftover balance may remain due to the fee. You can leave the dust as is.
5. If you can't update
- No other device: Without delay, move all remaining assets in that App Wallet to a trusted exchange account or a hardware wallet.
- You have another device: Do not create new transactions on that device; install the latest app on a device with the latest OS, recover there, and move all assets.
- Minimum supported OS: Android 9 or later, iOS 15.5 or later.
6. After moving
-
Permanently retire the old App Wallet and its recovery phrase and never use them again. Do not receive new assets at the old address. Delete the old App Wallet address from your exchange withdrawal address book.
-
Do not delete the app. It is needed to manage hardware wallets and to receive follow-up notices. Just keep it updated.
-
Leaving the app offline does not protect you. An already-exposed key can be used to create transactions in another environment.
-
How to move assets from the DCENT App Wallet Never follow wallet addresses or instructions sent through DMs or unofficial channels.
If you get stuck, write down your wallet address and the transaction ID (TXID) and contact 1:1 support. Never share your recovery phrase, private key, PIN, or password with anyone — including DCENT.
