Recovering your DCENT X wallet

Before you begin​

If you bought a new device or reset an existing one, you can restore the wallet you used before exactly as it was.

Powering on · selecting the language · connecting the mobile app · the user guide are exactly the same as Initial Setup. On the "Get started with DCENT X" screen that follows, select "Restore wallet" instead of "Create new wallet" to begin the recovery flow below.

Set your PIN and fingerprint​

After selecting Restore wallet, you register a new PIN (4–8 digits) and fingerprint. This step uses exactly the same UI and method as the PIN setup and fingerprint registration in Initial Setup, so refer to that document for details.

You must register a new PIN and fingerprint during recovery to access your wallet. Your previous PIN and fingerprint are not kept.

Review the recovery guide​

After setting the PIN and fingerprint, three guide screens explaining the recovery process appear in order.

  • Wallet recovery guide: explains that you can restore your existing wallet by entering your recovery words (mnemonic).
  • R3covery card guide: explains that tagging your R3covery card to the back of the device automatically recovers your wallet from the mnemonic backed up on the card.
  • Passphrase guide: explains that if you used a passphrase, you must set the same passphrase again after recovery to access the same accounts.

Choosing a recovery method​

Once you pass the guide screens, a screen for choosing a recovery method appears. Choose either R3covery card or mnemonic entry.

  • Recover with an R3covery card: read the card information with a single NFC tag on the back of the device to recover. For the full procedure, see Recover with an R3covery card.
  • Recover with recovery words: enter the recovery words (mnemonic) directly with the T9 keypad — 24 (or 18 / 12) words. For the full procedure, see Recover with recovery words.
