Connect with Blade wallet extension (including HBAR native staking)

This is a complete guide to using the user-friendly Blade Wallet together with the D'CENT Biometric Hardware Wallet. Once connected, Blade Wallet gives you an interface for accessing the Hedera ecosystem, while the D'CENT Biometric Wallet keeps your private keys safely offline.

Requirements

1. Blade Wallet Chrome extension

You will manage your assets through the Blade Wallet extension dashboard and interface.

Visit the Blade website and click "Connect Blade Wallet". You will be redirected to the Chrome Web Store page for the official Blade Wallet extension, where you can install it.

2. A D'CENT Biometric Wallet

The Blade Wallet integration currently works only with the D'CENT Biometric Wallet. If you don't own one yet, you can purchase it here:

3. Install the D'CENT Bridge app

D'CENT Bridge is software developed by D'CENT that connects your Biometric Wallet to your computer for tasks such as firmware updates and connecting to Blade Wallet.

If you do not have it installed yet, please read the bridge installation guide first.

Connecting your D'CENT Wallet to Blade Wallet

At this point, both the Blade Wallet extension and the D'CENT Bridge are installed.

Keep your D'CENT USB cable nearby — you will need it shortly to connect the D'CENT Biometric Wallet to your computer.

From the D'CENT Biometric Wallet

1. Create an HBAR account.

If you are new to D'CENT and aren't sure how, please follow our tutorial at /dcent-app/create-account.

2. Connect your D'CENT Biometric Wallet to your computer using the included USB cable.

From the Blade Wallet extension

1. Click the Blade Wallet extension icon in your browser.

2. Start the setup by choosing your preferred language.

3. Create a password. For your safety, do not reuse passwords from other services. Use at least 8 characters, including uppercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Then click "Advanced setup".

4. Since you are connecting your D'CENT Biometric Wallet, click "Hardware wallet".

5. Click "D'CENT Biometric Wallet".

6. Click "Import a wallet".

7. A new tab opens, prompting you to connect your D'CENT Biometric Wallet to the computer. Click "Next".

8. After a short wait, click "Import account".

9. Done! Click "Close" to close the tab.

10. Open the Blade Wallet extension and you should see your HBAR account imported from the D'CENT Biometric Wallet. You can verify the balance and public address against what is shown in your D'CENT Wallet.

How to natively stake HBAR with the D'CENT Wallet

Staking is the process of locking up HBAR to participate in Hedera network consensus. By staking HBAR, you earn rewards and help secure the network.

There are a few requirements:

Your D'CENT Wallet must be plugged into your computer.
You must already have an HBAR account on your D'CENT Wallet linked to Blade as described above.
You must hold HBAR in that account to begin staking.

Before you start, note that you stake the entire account — you cannot stake only part of its balance. If you want to stake only a portion of your assets, create a second HBAR account and split your funds between the two.

There is no minimum HBAR amount required to stake. Staking periods run for 24 hours, starting at midnight. While your HBAR is being staked, you cannot transfer it until you unstake.

1. Open the Blade app. You will see a "Stake" button.

2. Click it, then choose the node you want to stake to, or accept the default. Choosing a node is a personal decision and we do not recommend one over another.
