Does D’CENT support a 25th word (Passphrase)? What is a 25th word?
D’CENT Biometric Wallet supports the 25th word (Passphrase) feature.
The 25th Word (Passphrase) is an advanced security feature that adds one extra user-defined word to your existing 24 recovery words.
This creates a completely new private key that is independent of your original one.
[How the 25th Word Feature Works]
- The 25th word can be a combination of numbers or alphabets, up to 8 characters.
- If this feature is enabled, entering only the 24 recovery words will not be enough to restore the wallet.
- You must enter the 25th word in addition to the 24 recovery words to successfully recover.
- For instructions on how to set the 25th word, please refer to the user guide at the bottom of this article.
[Important Notes]
- If you add a 25th word to an already active wallet, your existing private key will be completely replaced, and previously stored assets will no longer be visible.
- To view your original assets again, reset the wallet and recover using only the original 24 recovery words.
- Therefore, if there are assets in the wallet, you must transfer all assets to another secure address before setting a 25th word.
- Once the 25th word is set, the wallet cannot be restored with only the 24 recovery words.
- You must input 24 recovery words + 25th word to recover the wallet.
[How to Recover a Wallet Using the 25th Word]
- Recover the wallet with your 24 recovery words
- On the device, go to [Settings > Security > 25th Word]
- Enter the 24 recovery words in order for verification
- After successful verification, input your previously set 25th word
- Recovery is complete
[How to Check Whether a 25th Word Is Set]
To check whether you have set a 25th word, you can verify it using the following method.
- Select [Settings > Security > Seed Check > 25 word] in the Biometric Wallet.
- First, enter the 24 recovery words in order to proceed with the verification.
- Once the verification is complete, enter the 25th word that you remember.
🚨 This is an optional advanced feature. Use it only if you fully understand the security implications and risks.
