What is the difference between Bitcoin and Bitcoin SegWit?
D'CENT Wallet supports two types of Bitcoin accounts:
Bitcoin (BTC) and Bitcoin Segwit (BTC Segwit).
[BTC vs BTC Segwit]
- BTC Segwit offers lower transaction fees and slightly faster confirmation times compared to legacy BTC
- There is no difference in functionality or security
- The only difference lies in the address format, but the assets are still processed as standard BTC
[Important Notice When Sending BTC to Exchanges]
- Before sending Bitcoin to an exchange, make sure the exchange supports BTC Segwit addresses.
- If the exchange does not support Segwit addresses, your funds may fail to arrive or could be lost.
- D'CENT Wallet supports only the P2WPKH format for Bitcoin addresses.
Therefore, if the recipient’s Bitcoin address is not in the P2WPKH format (e.g., P2WSH), the transfer cannot be processed. Please make sure to verify the address format before sending.
