Fingerprint authentication keeps failing.

DCENT X allows up to 5 fingerprint attempts. After 5 failures, fingerprint authentication stops and the device switches to PIN authentication.

[What you will see]

  • Each failed attempt removes one segment from the circular gauge, and a red message appears at the bottom of the screen: "Fingerprint not recognized. Please reposition your finger."
  • When only one attempt is left, the gauge shows a single segment.
  • After 5 failures the device shows "Fingerprint failed 5 times. PIN entry is required." and switches to the PIN entry screen.

[What to do]

  • Change the angle and position of your finger and try again.
  • If recognition stays poor, delete the existing fingerprint under Settings > Security and register it again.

[If PIN authentication also fails]

  • If all 10 PIN attempts fail, the device resets itself and every key stored inside is deleted.
  • To recover your assets after a reset you must have your R3covery Card or your 24 recovery words (mnemonic code).
