I lost my DCENT X.
Crypto assets live on the blockchain; the device only holds the private key used to access them. Even if you lose the device, as long as you have a backup your assets remain usable.
[What to do]
- Get a new DCENT X, select “Restore wallet” and restore with your R3covery Card or your 24 recovery words (mnemonic code).
- Restoring with an R3covery Card requires the card PIN (6 digits).
- After restoring, connect to the mobile app and add the coin accounts you were using.
[If you lost the R3covery Card as well]
- If you have the 24 recovery words (mnemonic code) you wrote down, you can bring the wallet back with “Restore with mnemonic”.
- If you have lost both the R3covery Card and the recovery words, recovery is impossible. DCENT does not keep your private key, so we cannot restore it for you.
- To prepare for loss, we recommend making several R3covery Cards and keeping them in different places.
[Security of the lost device]
- The device cannot be used without the PIN or a registered fingerprint.
- If the PIN is entered incorrectly 10 times in a row, the device resets itself and the stored key information is deleted.
- If you are still concerned, we recommend moving your assets to a new address from the restored wallet.
