Does DCENT X support a 25th word (passphrase)?

Yes. On DCENT X this feature is called a "passphrase wallet". It is an entirely new wallet created by combining your existing mnemonic code with an extra phrase. Even with the same mnemonic, a different passphrase produces a separate wallet with different wallet addresses.

[Two types]

  • Passphrase wallet (permanent) : stored in a dedicated slot, so it remains after you power the device off.
  • One-Time passphrase wallet : not stored on the device, so it returns to the default wallet once you power off.

[Good to know]

  • It is not configured during the initial setup. You set it up later under Settings > Wallet Management.
  • You can enter up to 100 characters. The passphrase is case sensitive and distinguishes numbers and symbols, and a trailing space is part of the value.
  • When you restore the wallet you must set the same passphrase again to reach the same accounts.

[Cautions]

  • Setting a permanent passphrase creates an entirely new wallet. If your existing wallet holds assets, move them to another address first.
  • If you forget the passphrase, that wallet can never be accessed again.
