Can I switch to a passphrase wallet?

Yes. You can move back and forth between the default wallet and a passphrase wallet on a single device. There is no need to create or restore a wallet again - you switch directly from the menu.

[How to switch]

  • Control Center : swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Control Center and tap the passphrase wallet button.
  • Settings menu : switch from Settings > Wallet Management > Switch to passphrase wallet.

[Notes]

  • Every switch requires PIN authentication. You cannot switch with a fingerprint.
  • On the device, fingerprint authentication is used in only two places: unlocking and signing transactions. Entering settings menus - switching wallets, resetting the device, viewing the mnemonic, managing the R3covery Card and so on - always requires the PIN.
  • You can tell which wallet you are in from the icon in the main screen header.
  • The account list looks the same. However the wallet addresses are different, because this is a separate, new wallet. It does not share the balance of the wallet created from the mnemonic alone.
  • Switching briefly disconnects and then reconnects Bluetooth. This is normal behavior that prevents the app from continuing to show the previous wallet's information.
  • If you have not set up a passphrase wallet yet, you are taken to the setup guide screen instead.
