How is a recovery words(mnemonic code) generated?

The recovery words used in DCENT wallets are generated in the form of a mnemonic code and follow the BIP39 technical standard.

[How recovery words (mnemonic code) are generated]​

  • 24 words are randomly selected from the 2,048 English words on the BIP39 standard list.
  • DCENT X, the Biometric Wallet, and the DCENT S Card Wallet generate the recovery words in the secure chip inside the device (card).
  • The words are shown only once during the initial wallet setup and cannot be viewed again afterward. You can check whether the words you wrote down are correct with the wallet's mnemonic verification feature.
  • No one outside, including the DCENT wallet company, can ever know your recovery words.

[Precautions for managing recovery words]​

  • Recovery words (mnemonic code) are the means to restore your wallet.
  • Write the 24 words down on paper in order and keep them safely offline. For the Biometric Wallet, you can use the included Recovery Sheet.
  • If they are stolen, leaked, lost, or damaged, you may not be able to restore your wallet and may lose your assets.
