Do not restore a recovery phrase that has been used in an App Wallet into a hardware wallet. On the hardware wallet, choose "Create Wallet" to generate a new recovery phrase, then transfer your assets. See How to move your App Wallet assets safely.

This article explains how to safely move your assets if you bought a new hardware wallet (DCENT X, Biometric Wallet, or DCENT S Card Wallet) while using the DCENT App Wallet (software wallet).

[How to transfer assets from the App Wallet to a hardware wallet]​

  1. During the initial setup of your new hardware wallet, select "Create Wallet" to create a new wallet, then register it in the DCENT app.
  2. Send the assets in your App Wallet directly to the address of the new hardware wallet.
  3. Once the transfer is complete, you can see the assets in your hardware wallet.

[Do not restore with the App Wallet's recovery words]​

Do not restore (enter) recovery words (mnemonic code) that have been used in an App Wallet (software wallet) into a hardware wallet. If they share the same recovery words, the hardware wallet is also at risk when the App Wallet is exposed.

On the hardware wallet, select "Create Wallet" during the initial setup to generate new recovery words, then transfer the assets from the App Wallet to the new wallet address.

[Note]​

  • The recovery words (or backup card) of your new hardware wallet are the only way to restore the wallet, so keep them safely offline.
  • For extra safety, send a small amount first to confirm the deposit, then transfer the rest of your assets.
