I lost my recovery words (mnemonic code) / My recovery words were stolen
This article explains what actions to take if you have lost your recovery words (mnemonic code) or believe they have been stolen. It also outlines the characteristics of the D’CENT wallet and the steps required depending on your wallet type.
D’CENT is a non-custodial wallet that does not collect or store users’ wallet information or personal data.
Your recovery words (mnemonic code) are generated and stored only by you and are not stored on D’CENT servers.
Therefore, if you lose your recovery words or they are stolen, D’CENT cannot recover or reset them for you.
If you become aware that your recovery words have been lost or compromised, please take immediate action as described below.
[Immediately transfer all assets to a secure address]
- If your recovery words are lost or stolen, anyone who obtains them can restore your wallet and gain full access to your assets.
- As soon as you become aware of this risk, transfer all assets in the affected wallet to a secure address (such as an exchange account or another personal wallet) to protect your funds.
- After successfully transferring all assets, you may reset your current wallet and generate a new set of recovery words.
- Please refer to the instructions below based on your wallet type.
[For Biometric Wallet users]
- To generate new recovery words for a Biometric Wallet, you must first perform a device reset(device wipe).
- After resetting the device, complete the initial setup process. During setup, select “Create Wallet” to generate a new set of recovery words (mnemonic code).

[For App Wallet users]
- If you're using the App Wallet, you can re-check your recovery words by going to:
[Settings > More (⋮) button > App Wallet Backup] in the D'CENT mobile app. - If you wish to reset your App Wallet, select: [Settings > More (⋮) > Delete App Wallet]
This will permanently remove the current App Wallet information from the app. - After deletion, you can create a new wallet and generate new recovery words by selecting:
[Settings > Manage All Wallets > Add App Wallet > Use New Wallet]

[Important Notice]
- The recovery words (mnemonic code) are the only way to restore access to your assets.
- If the recovery words are lost, access to your assets cannot be restored.
- D’CENT cannot retrieve, reset, or recover your recovery words under any circumstances.
- Never share your recovery words with anyone.
- Be sure to store them offline in a secure location to prevent loss or theft
